Worship

At Skyline we have a beautiful tradition of spirit-led, a cappella singing. During this time of singing we seek to enjoy the presence of God as we offer our gift of praise to Him. We want people to feel comfortable to express their praise in a way that draws them closer to God. We also want this time to uplift, encourage, and challenge our church community. We sing songs of all types from traditional to contemporary, hymns to popular Christian music. The worship leader and praise team play a vital role in providing an environment of praise and worship in our assemblies.

Skyline is a praying church and much of our worship time is spent talking to God, praising Him for His love and care and asking for His continued guidance. There is always a time to silently petition God on behalf of individual members in need of our prayers.

Each service has a Scripture reading specifically chosen to guide our thoughts for the morning. Through responsive, dramatic and traditional readings, we seek to make Scripture real in our lives.

There is always a lesson from God’s word that we can apply to our everyday lives. Messages are meant to challenge us as a community and draw us closer to our Creator and to one another. Sometime during the service the audience is given an opportunity to pray with a shepherd and/or shepherd’s wife.

Each Sunday we remember our Father’s sacrifice of His Son by participating in communion. This communion service consists of unleavened bread, which represents the body of Christ broken on the cross, and grape juice, which represents the blood of Christ, shed for the remission of our sins. All believers are invited to join us.

To show our thanks to God for all His blessings, we have a time to return an offering of thanksgiving to God. Our guests should not feel obligated to give an offering. This part of our service is for those who have made a commitment to participate and support God’s work at Skyline.

Following our time in class together, there is 25 - 30 minutes for fellowship in the lobby where refreshments are provided.   This gives our members an opportunity to welcome our guests and enjoy a few minutes together before worship begins.
